🎓 Next in our Alumni Spotlight series, we're excited to showcase Bob Lehner, a distinguished graduate from Hemlock High School's class of 2000. Bob's high school journey was marked by his active participation in Mock Trial, Drama Club, and the Internet Club. He fondly recalls Hemlock as a small and zany place, brimming with colorful characters that made his experience truly memorable. Following his graduation, Bob pursued higher education with zeal. He earned his AB and AM degrees in 2004 from the University of Chicago, and later obtained his JD in 2007 from the University of Michigan. Reflecting on his time at Hemlock, Bob acknowledges the unique perspective the school offered, which greatly differed from his college and professional experiences. Bob attributes much of his passion for language and linguistics to the inspiring educators at Hemlock, particularly the entire English department including Marilyn Sobieski, Carole Gardner, Linda Zarr, Connie Metiva, Emily Clayton, and Louise Fleischmann. Additionally, he credits Arie Vree for nurturing his love for languages as his German and Spanish teacher. Today, Bob thrives as an International Securities Lawyer, with bases in Chicago and London. He works with an international law firm, representing companies from the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in their corporate and securities transactions. His work takes him to various destinations worldwide, with memorable travel spots including Reykjavik, Iceland, and Vilnius, Lithuania. For current Huskies, Bob offers invaluable advice: Work diligently, remain confident yet humble, and don't shy away from student loans if they're invested wisely with a clear repayment plan. He encourages students to explore beyond the confines of Hemlock, urging them to broaden their horizons and embrace new experiences. Bob Lehner's journey from Hemlock High School to an esteemed international lawyer is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the valuable lessons learned along the way. We're proud to spotlight his achievements and celebrate his continued success in the global arena. #HemlockHuskies #AlumniSpotlight #BetterTogether #Since1863

A Love Story Through the Ages 🥂 Meet Barb and Bob Watson. Prepare to be swept back in time as we delve into the timeless love story of Barb and Bob Watson, two beloved figures of Hemlock High School's golden era. Class of 1966, Barb and Bob's journey began in the vibrant halls of Hemlock High. Barb, a newcomer in 8th grade, quickly found her place among peers, including Bob, who had already established himself in the school's social scene. Junior year marked the turning point as Barb and Bob transitioned from friends to something more, with Prom serving as their first official date. Barb fondly recalls Bob strutting down the halls in his iconic "Beatles" boots, while the front-door heaters served as the hotspot for socializing. Their high school memories are a delightful montage of basement hangouts, Hemlock drive-in escapades featuring pinball machines and milkshakes, and a senior canoe trip down the Rifle River. Bob's reign as the 1966 Homecoming King added to their high school legacy, but their journey didn't end there. With 57 years of marriage under their belt, Barb and Bob continue to be the epitome of enduring love and steadfast commitment. Their legacy extends beyond their own love story, as they've joyously watched three children and three granddaughters navigate their own adventures through Hemlock Public School District. From cross-country meets to art shows, their support for the Huskies runs deep. So here's to Barb and Bob Watson, whose love story transcends time and whose bond with Hemlock will forever remain unbreakable! 🐾 #ForTheLoveOfHuskies #HemlockHuskies #SchoolSweethearts

This week's #StaffSpotlight is on the charismatic Keith Green, our High School Principal here at Hemlock Public School District for the past 8 years. With a whopping 30 years in education, we wanted you to get to know him a little better, so here are some fun nuggets of information you may not know about him: • He feels his worst fashion decision was getting a perm in High School. • His nickname as a child was Bubba, and he wanted to be a teacher, football coach, and principal when he grew up. • If he won the lottery and decided to give up his position at HPSD, he'd manage a large hunting preserve. • He could listen to Either Way by Chris Stapleton on repeat. • A quote he lives his life by is "See a need, fill a need". • We asked him what accomplishment fills him with pride so far this year, and he said that the construction on the new facilities is a dream come true! We’re grateful you’re part of the Huskie Pack, Mr. Green! #PackLeaders #Huskietastic #BetterTogether #Since1863

Meet Kelley Bauer, a remarkable 3rd grader in Mrs. Grandy's class and one of our extraordinary Heart Heroes! 🫀 Despite facing unique challenges, Kelley is a true champion with an inspiring story. Born with his heart and organs flipped in the opposite direction, Kelley embodies resilience and courage. Kelley was diagnosed with dextrocardia, a rare condition where the heart is on the right side of the body and flipped backward. Alongside this, he had thinning of his aorta, necessitating surgery on his aortic arch and valve. His surgery, performed at U of M when he was just 3 years old, involved repairing his aorta arch and valve, as well as addressing membranes underneath his pulmonary valve. Kelley's everyday life reflects his uniqueness. From reciting the pledge with his hand over his right chest, where his heart resides, to having his blood pressure checked on his right side, his journey is a testament to his courage and adaptability. Kelley, you're an inspiration to us all, and we're privileged to have you as part of our Huskie family! 🐾 #HemlockHeartHeroes #HeartHealth #HemlockHuskies

It's #TeacherFeatureTuesday and today we're featuring the shining Shawn Enright, our Hemlock Virtual teacher here at Hemlock Public School District. We wanted you to get to know Ms. Enright a little better, so here are some fun facts about her: • The song she could listen to on repeat is All Too Well by Taylor Swift. • If she won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, she'd do lots of traveling, lots of volunteering, and spend lots of time with loved ones. • She believes her students will remember her as someone who had high expectations and was strict, but that she pushed them to be their best. • A quote she lives her life by is "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better!" by Maya Angelou • Her favorite subject in school was Psychology. We’re so grateful to have you in our Huskie Pack, Ms. Enright! #Huskietastic #Since1863 #HPSDPackLeader #HemlockStrong #HemlockHuskies
