Recently, Mrs. Klopf’s kindergarten class at Hemlock Elementary decided to “spread the love of reading” to celebrate last month’s Reading Month. Mrs. Klopf and her students “adopted” Mrs. Coleman’s class from St. Charles Community Schools. The class managed to collect enough money to purchase over $100 in books for their adopted classroom, and each of Mrs. Coleman’s students was able to take a book home to keep.
Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Klopf shared, “Reading month is one of my favorite times of the school year! It is very vital to excite kids at an early age about digging into a good book in order to build a lifelong reader. Our class has been very fortunate this year with supportive families who have helped our classroom library grow, so we wanted to pay it forward to watch another classroom library expand. It was so exciting for the students to be able to choose some of their own favorite books to share with Mrs. Coleman's class."
Principal Gensch stated, “What a great way to share the love of reading by spreading the love to our neighboring students.”
