Hemlock, MI - The winter season has been anything but cold thanks to the Hemlock Athletic Teams. Poms, wrestling, boys and girls basketball have all had red-hot success on and off the playing surface as the winter season thaws out.
Most importantly the winter athletes have succeeded in the classroom carrying a 3.26 cumulative GPA for marking period two. Last month, our pom team captured a state runner up trophy at the Mid American Pompon State Championship after a remarkable 4-peat.
Our girls basketball team competed for a conference and district title, but fell just short on both. However, they were able to capture many individual honors and milestones like all-conference awards and 1,000 career points. They ended with a 16-6 record.
Boys basketball has had an equally successful season as they begin tournament play in hopes of capturing a district title. The team has also had many individual accolades such as all-conference award winners. Their record currently sits at 13-7.
Finally, wrestling had a successful team season and sent three wrestlers to the individual state final. Hemlock was able to capture an individual state runner-up in wrestler, Josh Collins.
Athletic Director Cory Snider added, “We are so proud of all of our athletes this season. They have done a tremendous job of being shining examples of what Hemlock Athletics is all about: to be the true definition of a student-athlete, compete at the highest level and do so with pride and dignity. I am so proud to be a part of an amazing coaching staff, student body, and community as a whole.”
