Hemlock High School students are preparing for their future in their sophomore Business Services and Technology (BST) course. Students are required to develop a cover letter, resume, and obtain references in preparation for mock interviews with area professionals. In addition to application and interview preparation, the BST curriculum includes learning to use Microsoft Office, Career Exploration, Business Communications, Introduction of Computer Programming, Family Budgeting, Website Design, Adobe Photoshop, and Introduction to Multimedia,
Superintendent Killingbeck said, "This is one of my favorite assignments and one that I have participated in multiple times over the years. Students receive real-life experience in being a professional and being ready for their first application and interview."
This year BST job interviews, like many other things, went virtual, with 78 students being interviewed by 5 area professionals using Goggle Meet. BST Teacher Dana Lockwood organized and coordinated the event and said, "The students spend weeks preparing for the interview. The materials that they create are useful for years after graduation."
