Hemlock Public School District had the unique opportunity to have Elizabeth Smart speak to high school students thanks to the sponsorship from Team One Credit Union.
Ms. Smart spoke to students about her perseverance and withstanding after her 9-month horrible ordeal of rape and abuse. She explained how every one of us has the right to be loved and to never think otherwise. Her strength and words of encouragement to “never give up, to speak out and come forward,” struck students and faculties hearts.
Principal Green noted, “Elizabeth had a message that was inspiring to our students. She is an example of resilience and success.”
Child and Family Services and CAN Council were available for students to speak to after her presentation to help with those who may struggle with this topic.
Superintendent Killingbeck stated, “This was a great message of overcoming adversity and hope for our students to hear.”
