Open House

Preschool Registration is just around the corner which means it's almost time for the Preschool Open House!  With several different program options to choose from, you can be confident that Hemlock Preschool is the place to be to get your child's educational journey off to an awesome start. Of our three classrooms at the HECC Preschool Program, two are multi-age and tuition-based, and one is part of the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). The Great Start Readiness Program is a FREE program for qualifying four-year-olds who meet income guidelines and identifiable risk factors.

Great Start to Readiness Program

Our philosophy is that children learn best through hands-on experiences and play, and will begin to understand how things work because they are part of the learning process. Students will not just be told the answers to questions, but will have many opportunities to discover the reasons why and to then see the results for themselves. As children learn through play, they will begin to connect their prior knowledge with their new knowledge. It is these connections which will allow them to seek out more answers, test their ideas, and discover how things work.

Preschool Director Megan Bedford said, “We are creating a space, a moment, an experience that helps children develop their sense of self-worth by being valued and respected.”

We encourage all interested parents to join us at the Preschool Open House on Wednesday, February 12th, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Children are welcome to accompany parents to this event, at which families will have the opportunity to tour the program, ask questions, and to meet our gifted team of educators. There will be a classroom set aside where kids can explore the preschool environment, complete some fun activities, and get an idea of what a typical preschool day is like. Families may enter through the main doors at Hemlock Elementary School, 200 Wilson St.

For more information about the Open House and for all other questions, please contact Megan Bedford at bedford.megan@hemlockps.com or at 989-642-5221 ext. 2121. We can't wait to see you there!

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
