Our middle school cross country team competed at the largest of their season yesterday at the Birch Run Fall Invitational. Both the boys and girls took 5th place!
Leading the boys team was Wyatt Wenzel, who took 43rd place running a time of 13:19 and earned a medal! Chase Barrigar ran a strong race and placed 77th; sooo close to earning a medal. Ben Murphy took 110th place, and Jaden Bow finished in 117th, running a HUGE personal record. Jaden beat his old PR by almost 2 minutes! Rounding out the boys team, Henry Salowitz placed 135th, John Raths placed 160th, and Jack Killingbeck placed 161st.
For the girls, Kinley Gerow was our top finisher, taking 9th place with a time of 13:57 and earned a medal! Bailee Hayward was also a medalist, finishing in 57th place! Hannah Wizner placed 92nd, and Natalie Casey placed 152nd, running a big PR and beating her old time by 49 seconds. Making her debut as a cross country, Emme Reikowsky ran a great first xc race and finished in 230th. 💪
Also running today was Zophia Zaleski, a future Hemlock Huskie. Z took 39th and earned a medal, and ran a great time with a 15:04 considering she just raced yesterday with a huge PR! Great job everyone! 🙌 The cross country team will be back in action next Tuesday when they compete at their final TVC Blue meet.

Our middle school cross country team had their second conference meet of the season yesterday, and once again, they showed up to compete! Both the boys and girls took 2nd place!
Leading the boys team was Wyatt Wenzel, who took 2nd place and had a 23 second PR, running a time of 13:14. Chase Barrigar ran a strong race and placed 5th. The rest of the boys team finished close together, helping secure their 2nd place overall. Ben Murphy placed 9th, John Raths finishing in 11th, Jack Killingbeck in 15th, Henry Salowitz in 16th, Jaden Bow in 18th (who also ran a PR by 15 seconds), and Kasey Spreeman in 19th.
For the girls, Kinley Gerow was our top finisher, taking 1st place overall with a time of 13:30, beating her PR by 17 seconds and solidifying her place in 4th on the Top 10 HMS cross country board. Way to go Kinley! The rest of our girls ran great races and by doing so, helped boost our team into 2nd place overall. Bailee Hayward ran a 10 second PR and finished in 8th place, Morgan Rames ran an 18 second PR and finished in 9th, Hannah Wizner finished in 14th place, and Lily Barrigar took 24th while running a PR by over 2 minutes!
The middle school cross country team will be back in action next Thursday when they compete at the Birch Run Fall Invite.
High school cross country ran its second conference meet of the season!
Leading for the boys Grady Galbraith taking 13th, coming in next at 22nd with Dominic Rivette, followed by Evan Wolgast 25th, Tanner Wesener 30th and Owen Rathbun 35th.
Our girls were led by Lydia Faubert finishing 18th, with Lydia Scherzer 25th, Adelia Breternitz 31st with a time of 27:58 making it a lifetime PR by over 1 minute, and Katie Fuller with a strong kick at the end coming in 34th.
It was an amazing day to be a Huskie!
