From Classmates to Lifelong Partners 🥂 Brian & Tammie Pacholke
As we wrap up our second annual School Sweethearts series, we’re delighted to share the story of Brian and Tammie (Lloyd) Pacholke—a love that started in the halls of Hemlock and has grown stronger with time.
Brian and Tammie first met in eighth grade when Brian moved to Hemlock from Carrollton, but it wasn’t until their senior year that their friendship truly blossomed. With shared classes in the afternoon, Brian took a playful approach to getting Tammie’s attention—stealing her purse in Physics class. She played it cool, and he backed off, but the spark had already been lit. Their senior trip to Cedar Point stirred up rumors that Tammie might be interested, and on graduation day in June 1981, Brian finally asked her out. The rest, as they say, is history.
After two years of dating, Brian and Tammie tied the knot in September of 1983. They have built a beautiful life together, raising two adult children and cherishing their five grandchildren. For the past 28 years, they’ve been lovingly restoring the old Hemlock Cedarburg Funeral Home, blending their passion for history with the place they’ve always called home.
From teenage friends to lifelong partners, Brian and Tammie’s journey is a true testament to love, laughter, and a little bit of persistence.

Healthy snacks make happy Huskies. 🥕🍎 Carrie Nelson, our Health Resource Advocate, gave a fantastic presentation to Mrs. Hammond’s 3rd-grade class about making smart snack choices. The kids loved it! Plus, Food Service Director Jeremiah Allen prepared crunchy edamame beans for them to take home, and Carrie even made little recipe cards. Learning about nutrition has never been so fun.

Learning from the Pros 🌪️ Hemlock High School students in Mr. Slate’s Astronomy class had the privilege of hearing from WNEM Meteorologist Chris Easlick today. Superintendent Killingbeck kicked things off with a few words on snow days and weather impacts before Chris took the stage to explain the science behind forecasting.
We are grateful to Chris for making our students a priority and appreciate both his time and the entire team at WNEM for their dedication to education and community engagement.

Mrs. Klopf’s kindergarten class is making a difference—one balloon and one smile at a time. 🎈For the 4th year, these young Huskies adopted grandparents at Stone Crest Assisted Living, delivering balloon bouquets with the help of Party Pals Balloonery. They sang, danced, crafted, and even learned Spanish from a resident just a week shy of 100. Moments like these show the power of kindness across generations.

A Love Story That Started at Hemlock 🥂 Louise & Bob Bunterbart
Continuing in our School Sweethearts series, we’re thrilled to share the heartwarming story of Louise and Bob Bunterbart, whose love began in the halls of Hemlock High School and continues to flourish today.
Bob and Louise first crossed paths in 1970, when Bob asked Louise to join him at the Homecoming dance. From that moment on, they’ve been inseparable. Some of their most cherished memories from high school revolve around Bob’s time as the center for Coach Bob Wallace’s varsity football team, especially during their Conference Championship wins in 1971 and 1972. Louise loved cheering him on from the stands.
Fast forward to 1975, when Bob and Louise married, and their love story continued to grow. They are proud parents of two children and doting grandparents to two grandchildren, one of whom currently attends Hemlock Elementary. After 30 years of service, Louise retired from Hemlock Public Schools, and Bob runs his own successful floor-covering business.
Their enduring love and lifelong connection to Hemlock are an inspiration to all.

Reading just got a whole lot cozier in Mrs. Hammond's classroom. Superintendent Killingbeck stopped by today with a special delivery: brand-new library and classroom reading rugs! 📖 We've never seen students so excited about a rug before. Way to go, Mrs. Hammond, for creating a comfy and inviting space for your students to learn and grow.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight | Emilie Peitsch, Class of 2020
Meet Emilie Peitsch, a proud 2020 Hemlock graduate who has since become a Licensed Funeral Director at Snow Funeral Home. During her time at Hemlock, Emilie was the Captain of the Varsity Soccer team and Drum Major, and she valued the opportunities provided by the Early Middle College program. This program helped her complete her degree faster and more affordably than anticipated.
Emilie credits Mr. Chase with inspiring her to push beyond her comfort zone and embrace new challenges. One of her proudest accomplishments is passing her National Board Exams and becoming a licensed funeral director in Michigan.
Her advice to current Huskies: "Prepare yourself for the future and don’t skip any educational opportunity. College is expensive, and you’ll thank yourself later."
