Student Council

On Thursday, February 27, Hemlock Middle School (HMS) had the pleasure of hosting student council members from Marshall Greene Middle School for a day dedicated to leadership, collaboration, and school spirit. This unique opportunity brought together student leaders from both schools, fostering meaningful discussions on how to enhance the student experience and build a strong, positive school culture.

Throughout the day, students participated in interactive activities and group discussions, sharing what makes Hemlock Middle School such a fantastic place to learn and grow. Advisors and student leaders engaged in conversations about leadership strategies, school initiatives, and the impact of student voice in creating a thriving school environment.

“It was truly inspiring to see our students connect with their peers from Marshall Greene Middle School,” said Josh Chase, principal at HMS. “They shared ideas, built relationships, and demonstrated the power of collaboration in shaping the future of our schools.”

The visit highlighted the importance of student leadership and reinforced the value of working together to create positive change. As students exchanged experiences and best practices, they gained new perspectives on how to foster school pride and strengthen their respective student councils.

This valuable collaboration continued as Hemlock Middle School (HMS) had the privilege of hosting teachers from Swan Valley Middle School. As part of their district’s professional development initiative, Swan Valley educators traveled to HMS to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange best practices, and collaborate with HMS teachers.

"It was truly rewarding to see our two staffs come together, sharing their expertise and experiences," said Josh Chase, Principal at HMS. "I have no doubt that many great ideas, innovative lessons, and insightful anecdotes were exchanged, all of which will positively impact our students."

The visit provided a unique opportunity for educators to observe different teaching methods, discuss strategies for student engagement, and strengthen professional connections. Events like these reinforce the importance of ongoing professional development and the power of collaboration in enhancing the educational experience for all students. HMS looks forward to continuing these partnerships and fostering a culture of shared learning among educators
